At the Adventure Kart base camp, you will receive a safety briefing and gear up in preparation for the exciting, one-and-a-half-hour guided trek. Your caravan of karts sets out to explore the remote back country along several miles of improved forest trail, with your guide in the lead ATV. Feel the rush of adrenaline at the start of your journey as you navigate an obstacle course in a custom designed Tomcar that tests your ability to traverse through the remaining wilderness. A comfortable pace is maintained as you thread your way around steep curves, climbing to reveal unparalleled views of the Tongass National Forest, Behm Canal and Alaska’s fabled Inside Passage.
Stops are made along the way to soak up the grandeur and beauty of this lush land. Enjoy a snack and beverage, then drivers and passengers have the opportunity to switch positions for the return trip. Be prepared to watch for wildlife along the way where eagles, deer or bears are frequently sighted.

Paddle across Mendenhall Lake, navigating past icebergs, surrounded by one of the richest samplings of Alaskan wildlife you'll find anywhere. Birds including arctic terns nest in the towering cliffs, and eagles, goats, salmon and bears are all common sights.
Then, venture within a safe distance of the massive, awe-inspiring face of the living Mendenhall Glacier.
Grab a thrill ride by skirting the base of beautiful and powerful Nugget Falls.
Refuel with a snack of Alaskan-style fare for your return.
You will make the trip in a traditional Tlingit-syle canoe, an exceptionally stable 28 foot watercraft, with all modern safety gear supplied. Because of the close approach to the glacier face, the Forest Service tightly controls the number of participants.

KETCHIKAN: Drivers must show a valid driver's license. Participants must be at least 50" tall and weigh between 40 and 300 lbs. Karts accommodate two guests. Not recommended for guests with neck or back problems or expectant mothers. A liability waiver is required to be signed in the presence of the tour operator. In addition to the waiver, children under the age of 18 must also have a signed parental consent form to participate without a parent or guardian. Rain gear and a helmet are provided for use on the tour.
JUNEAU: Moderate to good physical condition is necessary for participation in this excursion. Children must weigh at least 40 pounds in order to fit into required life jackets. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Unaccompanied children between the ages 13 through 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian. This tour operates under a Special Use Permit issued by the US Forest Service. You will spend about one hour on the canoe trip across Mendenhall Lake, stop ashore for a snack near Nugget Falls and then paddle back across the lake for about 50 minutes. Some final notes: bring your vouchers and dress comfortably for the weather (if your tour is on the water it will be about 10 degrees cooler.) Camera and binoculars are suggested for land-based tours. However, while on tours involving rafts, canoes and kayaks, we suggest you bring disposable cameras.
Skagway:Please bring an extra pair of socks, gloves and wear layers of clothing. You may want to bring rain gear or waterproof jackets.
Remember to bring your camera. Please note this is a float trip - no white water. We regret that this tour is unable to accommodate wheelchair guests.
