Steve Kroschel, founder of the Wildlife Park Center, has provided his expertise to the film industry for decades for such movies as “Never Cry Wolf” and the PBS “Wild America” series. Steve personally participates in the tour; he is “Hands on” in every aspect of the wellbeing of “His Animals”. The tours provide the funds necessary for the upkeep of the animals on a yearly basis. It is common place for Steve and his son to care for newborn orphaned critters in their home so that they can provide the level of care that is needed at a critical time in the lives of the animals and/or develop a bond where-by they can be trained for participation in wildlife films. Wildlife Photo opportunities abound on this tour.

Begin your adventure when you step onboard the Chilkat Express at Skagway’s small boat harbor. Owned and operated by the Klukwan Natives you will immediately feel welcomed by the captain and crew. Your 30-minute voyage on Lynn Fjord to the private docking facility in Haines is a scenic landscape of sheer rock cliffs, abundant waterfalls, glaciers, inlets, terminal moraines, snowcapped mountain ranges that rise straight up out of the depths of the Fjord. Wildlife sightings often include: Whales, Fur Seals, and Eagles, rafts of Surf Scoters, Mountain Goats and Bear.

Arriving in Haines you are face to face with the charming unspoiled small community of Haines and the magnificent Chilkat Mountain Range, which forms the northern escarpment of Glacier Bay National Park. You are further engulfed in the beauty of this special place in the world as your bus transfers you on the Haines Scenic By-way along the Chilkat River thru the heart of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve to the Kroschel Films Wildlife Center – Additionally, moose, bear and other wildlife are often spotted en route.
