After being greeted by your guide enjoy your drive to Hoi An ancient town

Stop en route at Tra Que village, known for growing excellent fresh herbs with a distinctive aroma. It is also chance to experience the colorful countryside where paddy fields and vegetable gardens lie tucked away in sleepy villages.

Walk to a typical house and meet with the family members. Sit down for a home-made welcome drink while interacting with the family members to understand the history of the village as well as the farmers’ daily life.

The quickest way to understand the local people is by being a local. Borrow some farming equipment and set foot in the garden with the friendly farmers and learn the traditional cultivating methods. Especially, savor the scent of “tra que” which is the spice used so often in Hoi An cuisine.

Drive to Hoi An ancient town. Between the 16th and 19th centuries, Hoi An was a prosperous trading port. Today, this World Heritage-listed ancient town boasts well-preserved buildings, pedestrianized streets and unique cuisine, allowing visitors a glimpse of its illustrious past.

Explore the river life along the picturesque Thu Bon River on a loud, diesel engine boat as used by locals for their daily transportation. Here you will see a diversity of local industries in action from cast net fishing to duck farming and boat building.

Stop for lunch at Brother’s Café restaurant. This riverside restaurant is an elegant old building with a French colonial style exterior and traditional Hoi An interior.

Embark on a traditional cycle rickshaw, which is almost a “lost in oblivion” means of transport in Vietnam, through the ancient town. Enjoy the scene of narrow streets lined with old tile-roofed shop houses, shady pagodas, colorful communal halls and bustling street life.

Stop at a former merchant house and enjoy a cultural interaction with a member of Hoi An Relics Conservation Center – Mr. Tran Van Nhan (subject to availability) to get a glimpse of the current preservation projects.
