Eurway Tour of Hue
After being greeted by your guide you will begin your pleasant and scenic journey along a coastal mountain range route to the city of Hue, passing between the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other.
The city of Hue served as an imperial capital to the Nguyen Lords, a feudal dynasty which reigned from the 17th to 19th century. With splendid emperors’ tombs, ancient pagodas and the remains of the Citadel, the city retains its royal charm.
Stroll through the Imperial Citadel, once the exclusive residence of the royal family and its entourage. Gain an insight into the rituals and mysteries of the lives of the former Vietnamese nobility.
Take a traditional cycle rickshaw drive from the Citadel to Thien Mu Pagoda - Hue's best preserved religious monument. Standing on the bank of the Perfume River, the pagoda is a sight to behold.
Arrive at the pagoda and contemplate the beautiful architecture of the octagonal 7-story tower. Meet and interact with one of the head monks here to understand the influence of Buddhism on the local life in Hue, the religious center of Vietnam.
Then drive to a celebrated historian’s home for lunch. Where you will enjoy a home-hosted lunch prepared by his family, and enjoy the rare opportunity to speak with him. Learn how he has preserved Hue’s traditional culture, as well as admiring his fascinating collection of artifacts and mementos from the days of the Empire.
Experience a Royal Martial Arts performance, one of the cultural programs inherited from the Nguyen Dynasty. There is a 25 minute performance of different martial art techniques, reminiscent of the past heroic plots of Vietnamese patriots against the colonial suppressors.
Meet Master Kim (subject to availability), whose grandfather used to serve martial art in the Royal Court, and share his life experience restoring this dying form of art and being a political dissident during the communist time.
