Relive the days of the 1890's Klondike Gold Rush when fortune seekers journeyed from Seattle to the Yukon Territory and paddle wheelers plied the waters of Alaska's Yukon River. Blending the past and present, your narrated cruise aboard the largest steam powered paddle wheeler west of the Mississippi, will include fun and historical information about this period in Seattle history, along with fascinating facts about the sights you will be seeing.
Your 2-hour adventure begins from south Lake Union, home of the Center for Wooden Boats including the Virginia V, the last surviving wooden steam vessel from the historic "Mosquito Ferry Fleet". As your sternwheeler circles the shores of Lake Union you'll view the houseboat communities, including the houseboat used in the film "Sleepless in Seattle".
Entering the ship canal areas, draw bridges will open as you pass through the historic Fremont and Ballard districts. You'll pass by Fishermen's Terminal, home to the North Pacific Fishing Fleet and the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks that move ships from the salt waters of Puget Sound to the fresh waters of Lake Union and Lake Washington. All the while enjoy spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains, downtown Seattle and the Space Needle. On the return leg of your tour you will be entertained with a 20 minute live "Klondike Cabaret Show".
