Take a journey into the heart of the Galilee and explore the historical and religious sites that shaped Jewish culture and heritage.
We start at Sepphoris National Park, the famous Biblical city that was home for the Sanhedrin, the High Council, and the very place where Rabbi Judah, the Head of the Jewish community during the 2nd century, codified the Mishnah. Sepphoris houses Israel's most well-preserved mosaic floors located at its ancient fifth century synagogue.
During the fall of the Jewish nation, the town of Sepphoris was diversely populated by Jews, Romas, Christians, Crusaders and Muslims whose amphitheaters and fortresses are a testament of their legacy. You will then proceed to Tiberius, where your guide will point out its historical landmarks as you arrive to lunch on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.
The city of Safed is the next stop in your journey into the roots of Judaism. Safed is considered one of the Judaism's Four Holy Cities along with Jerusalem, Tiberias and Hebron. It is the birthplace of Jewish Mysticism (Kaballah).
Walk its cobble narrow streets of the Artist Quarter towards the Kabalists Quarter visiting ancient synagogues dating back to the sixth century and take the opportunity to visit the tomb sites of great Kabalists such as the "Holy Ha'ari" and Rabbi Karo before you travel back to Haifa.
