Clay Villa Plantation House / Gardens and Caribelle Batik Studio/Romney Manor

Sit back, relax and enjoy a narrated drive through historic Basseterre admiring colonial architecture of bygone times, national landmarks such as the Clock Tower and Independence Square and centuries old churches.
Your scenic drive takes you along the west coast to Clay Villa Plantation House and Gardens, the only plantation never to profit from slavery and where you will witness the colonial influence, African heritage and learn about the Carib Indians, traditions and bush remedies. Your guide will take you through beautiful gardens full of lush and fragrant tropical fruit trees, colourful flora and fauna. These splendid gardens are also home to green vervet monkeys, forest birds, turtles and exotic fish. Tour the well loved plantation house and family museum and admire the collection of artefacts, treasures and contemporary art on display. You will be served a complimentary drink after the tour and afterwards take the opportunity to visit the gift shop which carries an eclectic selection of local craft. Restroom facilities are located on site.
Your tour continues to Caribelle Batik/Romney Manor passing along its way, Bloody Point River (where over 2000 Kalinago were massacred in 1626); historic Old Road town and Carib fertility Petroglyphs. At Romney, which was once owned by Sam Jefferson, the great, great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States you are invited to tour its botanical gardens and see for yourself how Batik is made.
To complete your personal experience of St. Kitts, your tour climaxes at Timothy Hill Look Out where you will witness some of the most breathtaking scenery of Frigate Bay Resort; elegant homes and panoramic vistas of the turbulent Atlantic Ocean and the tranquil pristine waters of the Caribbean Sea before making your way back to the Port.
