Drive to Lindos village which is situated 35 miles down the eastern coastline passing through orchards, vineyards and picturesque villages. Upon arrival at the exquisite little village of Lindos you may either walk to the acropolis (approximately 15 minutes) or hire a donkey for part of the way up to the entrance gate of the acropolis. Follow your experienced guide through the remains of a variety of civilizations which include the 4th century b.c. doric temple of Athena Lindia, a double-winged portico (stoa), roman ruins, a byzantine church and medieval fortifications of the Knights of St. John. From the top of the acropolis you will have a spectacular view of St. Paul’ s bay, where it is said the Apostole first set foot on the island in the year 51 a.d. Bring your camera with and profit from the rare view to take pictures.
Walk down to the parking and re-embark your bus which will take you back to Rhodes city to visit the modern and medieval parts. On your way drive through the acropolis of ancient Rhodes (Monte Smith) and the ancient temple of Apollo, Odeum and stadium, to Mandraki port the new market, post office, colossus site, city hall, aquarium, before continuing to the gate of D’Amboise (disembarkation) where you will be able to walk through the medieval city and down the street of the Knights (Ippoton) with your guide to learn all the details of this well preserved medieval town from our experienced tour guide. Afterwards join your group at the meeting point indicated by your driver or guide for a short drive to the nearby port or for those who want to extend their stay in Old Rhodes walk on your own back to the port whenever you want, according to your ship’s schedules. Please note: If you would like to enter the Acropolis of Lindos this fee is not included in the cost of the tour and will be an additional 6 euros to be paid in person.
