Port Promotions was founded in 1990 to provide independent shore excursions, transfers, hotel packages and concierge services as an alternative to the Cruise Line options mass market approach. Since that time, Port Promotions has emerged as the leading provider of independent shore excursions throughout the world, and are committed to providing a quality experience with a personal touch.
Excursions are offered only after careful evaluation of the services provided and a review of the tour operators to ensure that they meet the required operational standards. Like most companies, we wish to grow but not at the expense of quality. We strive to provide the personal touch to each tour we sell and insure that the guest experience equals the quality that we would want to experience ourselves.
In addition to the traditional shore excursions, transfer services and hotel arrangements, our concierge staff has the in-depth destination and activity knowledge to provide custom designed excursions and activities for individuals and groups to meet any request.
Our three key managers have spent their entire careers working to serve cruise guests. Together they share over 74 years of onboard and shore side tour expertise ranging from on board cruise director to cruise line executive, coordinating tours and transportation worldwide.
No other Destination Management company can provide more exclusive services in more places.
Key Managers
Gordon Barr, Chief Executive Officer
Gordon has been in the Cruise and Travel industry for over 29 years. While Vice President at Holland America Line Gordon held responsibility for the land tour operations in Alaska and the shore operations around the world. He worked with the operations of tour boats, motor coaches and rail cars, as well as developing new tours for visitors in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. He has also served in a number of travel industry leadership positions including Chairman of The Board for Gray Line World Wide, National Tour Foundation and has served on the board of Travel Industry of America and other travel and community boards and commissions.
Steve Leland, President
Steve was the founding owner of Port Promotions in 1990 after having served on board a number of ships as a Cruise Director for Costa Cruise Lines for more than 10 years. Steve has extensive relationships with excursion operators around the world insuring his personal touch. Early on, many cruise lines consulted with Steve, using his knowledge to help set up their own excursion programs in key ports.
David Gudgel, Vice President of Operations
David has over 17 years experience in various aspects of the travel industry, working directly for Holland America Line for 15 years. David brings his background in tour operations to our front line, insuring excellent customer service in all areas He spent 7 years in Alaska designing and operating shore excursions for all of the major cruise lines and has served as a board member for Gray Line World Wide and the Local Visitor and Convention Bureau. David's "hands on" operational experience help fulfill the personal touch efforts that Port Promotions is so proud of.
