Shopping: Caracas is a buyers market for fine clothing, tailored suits, shoes, leather goods and jewelry.

Most passengers go directly from the dock into air-conditioned excursion buses for a recommended excursion to the city of Caracas.

Transportation: Taxis are plentiful at the pier but one should know where they wish to go. A cab ride from La Guaira to Caracas costs about $35.00. Caracas is a complicated city so an escorted tour is highly recommended.

Beaches: The closest recommended beach is at the Sheraton Macuto which is a considerable ride from the pier in La Guiara.

Points of Interest: The principal reason ships come to Venezuela is so that passengers can experience South America and the city of Caracas. It is an extremely cosmopolitan city of subways, high rise buildings and is a city of contrasts. The Murano Glass Factory outside of Caracas is very interesting and is usually included in the tours. There is also a German Village tour offered from some of the ships.

You will find little of interest in La Guaira, but you should not miss the opportunity of visiting Caracas. We feel that the best way to see this major South American city is in the company of our trained escorts. We have made an extra effort in arranging this excursion in a convenient and comfortable package. Independent transportation into the city from the pier is app. a 45 min. drive. Realize that you are going to a metropolitan area with major traffic. It is a city of contrasts and be prepared to see contrasting lifestyles.
